Hello neighbors!
I hope this post finds you well. The Stonefield HOA Board met on May 10, 2025. 5:30pm at the Baxter-Patrick Library. Below is a summary of that meeting.
Members present were Jan, Mike, and Carolyn. The main topics of discussion were (1) current landscaping contract, (2) tree work, and (3) dog leash laws/common area use.
Current Landscaping
The previous quote was for $1200/mo which included dog station trash removal (at $150/mo = $1800/year) It was discussed to change the contract to remove the dog station trash removal, and a new contract quote was submitted. The price was still $1200.
Mike looked into other dog station options. One example was DoodyCalls, quote is $1,000/year. We decided to test out DoodyCalls on a trial basis (3 month contract)
We need to think about the things that we/the community want/s done. We should survey the community to assess our true landscaping needs and wants, and develop a plan.
Carolyn will set up a map/visualization of common areas. The board will submit landscaping ideas/preferences and these will be consolidated and presented to the community for discussion. Then we can reach out to companies for quotes. Goal is to be able to ask for new quotes by end of June.
Tree Work
Charleston Arborist is the only company so far to send a quote. Mike will follow up with Bartlett, Carolyn will follow up with Heartwood. We will talk about this as soon as the quotes are gathered and compared.
Dog Leash/Community Space Survey
Discussed, but nothing decided on. We should look into signage, and continue community communication on respectful use of common areas. Also potential of “off leash hours”. From the survey results, there is clear concern in the community over unleashed dogs, and dogs from outside the neighborhood. There is also a majority of homeowners who agree dogs can be off leash as long as they are well behaved, in control, and the other users of the common area feel safe/okay. And everyone agrees that dog owners must pick up after their dogs.
Other topics:
Mike would like to work with our community bookkeeper to utilize QuickBooks online, and to move to a 2x year billing cycle (vs 4x year) starting in July.
Next meetings. June 17 and July 22 (community invited to July meeting)
Lets be kind and respectful to each other - and feel lucky that we are all neighbors in the Stonefield Community!
And, always reach out with questions or concerns. board@stonefieldhomes.org
