Charleston County Government is committed to providing its citizens with good communication regarding important information on County services, upcoming meetings, and emergency notifications. We currently have a good relationship with the local media as they frequently aid us in getting news out to the public. Charleston County Council recently directed staff to develop a homeowner association database so that neighborhood contacts can help us disseminate information on a grassroots level.

By being the point of contact for your neighborhood, you have an important job in helping with the County’s effort to increase communication to our citizens and reach even more people.

This is the first e-mail we are sending to our newly developed homeowner association list. We are using this opportunity not only to make contact with you, but to give you important information. Near the beginning of the 2008 Hurricane Season, we embarked on a public education campaign using the media to get the word out about a new program called Alert Charleston County. This is a free program where Charleston County residents can register their information so we can contact them in an emergency. County Council has also asked that we forward you the attached information (direct link to news release is: http://www.charlestoncounty.org/News/2894.htm) on Alert Charleston County and request that you distribute it to the residents in your neighborhood so they can register if they haven’t done so already.

Please note that our homeowner association database will be used only for official County Government business. If you are not the contact for your neighborhood association, please help us maintain an accurate list by replying to this e-mail and provide us with the correct contact information if you have that information.
